Debut Night at Lake Gibson Village
Well, nerves settled down, stage was set, the actors walked out, took over and transformed the theater into a night of wonderment! Weekend -Of-One-Acts, a product of deep love, blasted its way onto the stage last evening. No one in the house knew what was coming. Not unexpectedly to us however, with all of the hard work devoted to making this endeavor a first time hit, the entire cast and crew of Just Write! Lakeland created a tender, funny, raucous and touching series of short skits, sure to be remembered long after the program ends. Many kudos to our Director Nathan McMahan, who took on the huge task of directing all nine skits. Ken Bundy worked technical sound magic in a challenging acoustic environment. Jon Fedkiw, our fearless leader and first worrier, held onto his hat and enjoyed the ride, the result of a dream that he shared with like-minded comrades. Brad Barfield, our Propmaster, was relentless in his search to provide assistance with whatever we needed to create and authenticate our sets. Doing double duty was Donna Renfroe of Lakeland Radio. She made certain that as many people as possible heard about our show and as well, served upfront and boldly as Emcee. Mr. Paul Catala and crew of the Ledger, was incredibly helpful as he kept us in the media loop with almost constant public information concerning Just Write! Lakeland.
Not to mention Renee Tucker, CEO of Lake Gibson Village who allowed us to invade the peaceful quiet senior home to show off our talent. And two persons that I've grown quite fond of -Maria Torres, Kevin Rios, Just Cares Foundation/Just Dance Academy, have won my heart for providing us with a home from which to function. I daresay that Christine Boring, SoFlo Gallery, is permanently on the list of people to whom we owe great appreciation. Ms. Boring provided us with our first ever home in which to practice our art. Cynthia Haffey, Calvin Johnson, one of many friends from Platform Art/Poets, are staunch supporters of our work. Thank you for being there. Of course, we would be remiss if we didn't recognize our fine authors and their incredible work.
Finally, on a personal note, I'd truly like to thank my friends and neighbors for their interest and support. Certainly we would not exist if you weren't there to cheer us on!
