Submission Guidelines
Submissions are to be sent to:
submissions@justwritelakeland.com
Subject of email should be "SUBMISSION" or "PRODUCTION" followed by the name of your work.
We PREFER non-published/non-produced stageplays and screenplays because of the critique session afterwards. If you've published something you'd like critiqued, please feel free to submit it.
We STRONGLY encourage the writer to pre-cast their reading. We do have actors here that we can recommend for any open roles.
We accept scripts of all genres, with or without an agent regardless of your experience and/or success in the industry.
Accepted Submissions will be table read in accordance with JWL's calendar.
We provide a talkback/critique session after every reading.
What to Include in Your Cover Letter (Mandatory):
✔ Writer's Name, Contact Information and brief Bio
✔ A Brief Synopsis of the piece
✔ Total Number of Characters (and their breakdown)
✔ Page Count
✔ Rating (which is based on MPAA guidelines)
Preferred rating is G, PG, OR PG-13
We will accept more mature content, but please provide a warning of the content in your cover letter. We may decline to critique work that is overly mature.
Synopsis & Manuscript
A synopsis is a brief overview, which can vary in length, but generally not exceed 500 words. You will also need to include a copy of your full manuscript.
Table Reading
Also note, the Monday night workshops meet via Zoom AND in person. We STRONGLY encourage you to pre-cast your play/screenplay with actors of your choosing and then provide a contact list to us so we may get them the Zoom link if they are not coming in person. The Zoom link will be sent out the Saturday prior to Monday nights reading.
Therefore any modifications to the script you want read, MUST BE MADE and sent back to us by the FRIDAY before hand.
We will not take any revised scripts after the Friday (BEFORE Monday's scheduled table reading).

**Just Write! Lakeland reserves the right to decline any manuscript submitted.
***All submissions received by JWL give JWL the right and permission to table read the material and forward the material to any members and/or readers of the organization.
